Police blotter

VANDALIA (OCT. 29) – Police checking a vehicle at Interstate 75 and East National Road found a man passed out behind the wheel. Medics could not check on the driver because all doors were locked. An officer broke out a rear passenger window and unlocked the door to provide access. The driver woke up and was checked by medics. He was charged with drunk driving.

VANDALIA (OCT. 28) – People inside a Timberlake Drive address said they three unknown men entered and demanded money from them around 2 a.m. The three men had handguns and made off with $13,000 cash, police said. They were not located.

VANDALIA (OCT. 26) – A woman reported that a person she allowed to stay at her home apparently stole a check from her checkbook and cashed it for $300. The woman said she discovered the check had been written while monitoring her account.

ENGLEWOOD (OCT. 29) – Police who were looking into reports of a truck doing “donuts” in the middle of the street at Wenger and Hazel ended up arresting a man who refused to identify himself. Police said they found men with a pickup truck nearby and asked each man to identify himself. All did but the one, who repeatedly refused to cooperate. The man was charged with failure to identify and having an open container and jailed.

PIQUA (OCT. 31) – A Miami County sheriff’s deputy driving on South Wayne Street in Piqua around 1:30 a.m. noticed a vehicle in front of him with no taillights. The driver admitted that his operator’s license was suspended and said, he “was just going around the corner,” the deputy reported. The driver was charged with driving under suspension and no working taillights.
