Dayton robber threatens to shoot Dollar Tree cashier

According to the Dayton police report, a tall, dark complected man with a neck tattoo on Sunday tried to rob the Dollar Tree, 1905 Wayne Ave., but the clerk refused to give him any money.

The clerk told police she was putting items on shelves when she saw a customer standing near the cash register, according to the report.

She asked him if he was ready to check out and he said he was so she rang up and bagged three items for a total sale of $3.22: Carnival Pop suckers, an Android charger and a docking station, according to the report.

Police said the robber reportedly leaned in and told the clerk he didn’t have any money. He then reached into the front of his hooded shirt and threatened to shoot the clerk if she didn’t give him all the cash in the register, according to the report.

Police said the robber never displayed a weapon and the clerk simply refused to give him any money. The robber ran out of the store with the items in the bag that he didn’t pay for, but he didn’t get any cash, according to the report.

A K-9 unit tracked the unidentified robber to the intersection of Medford and East Stewart streets, but lost the scent there.

A robbery suspect threatened to shoot a Dollar Tree cashier tonight if she didn’t give him money, but he walked away empty-handed after she said she couldn’t open the cash register, according to Dayton police.

The suspect was described as a male with neck tattoos wearing a black hooded sweatshirt.

A police K-9 is trying to track the suspect tonight who robbed a Dollar Tree store.

The robbery was reported about 6:50 p.m. at the store, 1905 Wayne Ave., in Dayton.

According to initial reports, the suspect did not show a weapon but indicated he had one. No injuries were reported.
