UPDATE @ 11:10 p.m.

Friends of an 18-year-old missing from Kettering say she just contacted her mother.

Erika Simone Wade told her mother she is making her way home now, according to her friends.

Wade had been reported missing after she was last seen Tuesday night. The circumstances of her disappearance are not clear.

FIRST REPORT

Police are concerned about a Kettering teenager who has been missing since Tuesday.

Kettering police Sgt. Bob Green said officers are being briefed daily to be on the lookout for 18-year-old Erika Simone Wade, who was last seen leaving with a male friend from her home.

“We have every indication that something is amiss,” Green said. “We believe this is out of character for her.”

Wade has been entered as a missing person in the National Crime Information Center database, which notifies officers across the state, Green said.

Wade’s mother Tranice Love said her daughter told her before she left that she would only be out for a little while and not to worry.

Love said her daughter is meticulous about taking care of herself and it’s unusual that she left her makeup and personal hygiene products at home.

“I know my child,” she said. “This is not the typical thing that she would not communicate with her family. That’s not her.”

Wade is a graduate of Kettering Fairmont High School. Her mother said she is well known in the community.

Multiple people were sharing the details on Facebook in hopes that someone knows where she is and will call authorities.

Anyone with information to aid the investigation is urged to call Kettering police detective William Aldrich at 937-296-2559, or the Kettering police dispatch at 937-296-2555.
