Police warn of DP&L scam targeting local residents

Local police are warning residents about a DP&L scam.

According to a post on Brookville Police Department's Facebook page, a phone scam is targeting residents. The caller says they are from DP&L and threaten to shut power off if they don't go to the nearest Rite Aid or pharmacy to pay their bill.

This is a scam, and anyone who receives the call should not go to any store to buy gift cards or money orders, police warn.

The calls have been coming from 888-994-0876, according to police.
