Public indecency in Oregon District leads to arrest

A man was arrested pending several misdemeanor counts of public indecency after a police officer on routine patrol saw him engaged in a sex act in his vehicle parked in the Oregon District.

The officer spotted a tan Toyota parked with its lights on in a parking lot off of Gates Street at about 8:30 p.m. Thursday.

When the officer approached the car, he saw the 53-year-old man sitting in the driver’s seat. He appeared to have his pants down and be touching himself, according to a Dayton Police report.

The man told police he had gotten into a fight with his wife and had driven to the parking lot. He said he thought no one could see him.

He admitted to police that he has done the same thing before, just not in Dayton, according to the report. He has a prior misdemeanor conviction for public indecency in Fairborn from 2004. He pleaded guilty and paid a fine, according to court records.
