Services resume week after deadly Dayton church shooting

Sunday services resumed at St. Peter’s Missionary Baptist Church a week after Rev. William Schooler was shot and killed in the church, allegedly by his brother, Daniel Schooler.

Pastor Anthony Kimbro led Sunday School and the 11 a.m. worship service at the Nancy Avenue sanctuary this morning.

A line of mourners surrounded the church on Thursday for William Schooler’s funeral. The 70-year-old’s brother, 68-year-old Daniel Schooler, remains in the Montgomery County Jail. He has pleaded not guilty to a murder charge in his brother’s shooting death.

Investigators have said Rev. Schooler was shot and killed in his office in the back of the church shortly after last Sunday’s service.
