Three teens indicted for string of robberies in Dayton

Three Dayton teenagers will be tried as adults in Montgomery County Common Pleas Court for a series of robberies last year.

A grand jury in Montgomery County indicted Markkell Goins, 15, and James and Jarelle Anderson, both 17.

Goins was indicted on charges of aggravated burglary (two counts); aggravated robbery (three counts); kidnapping; receiving stolen property; and theft.

The two Andersons are each indicted on charges of aggravated burglary (two counts); aggravated robbery (two counts); kidnapping; receiving stolen property; and theft.

Montgomery County Prosecutor's Office Spokesman Greg Flannagan said the teens are accused in a series of armed robberies last August and September.

The first was a robbery inside a home in the 300 block of Fernwood Avenue on Aug. 30, 2016.

Court records indicate the teens allegedly broke in and held an occupant of the home at gunpoint while they ransacked the residence.

Then on Sept. 5, 2016, the teens reportedly robbed two different pizza delivery drivers.

The first was a Domino’s pizza driver that had cash, a cell phone, pizzas and car keys stolen, according to court records.

Flannagan said later that day, the teens allegedly robbed a Cassano’s pizza driver, stealing the vehicle, pizzas, cell phone and cash.

Dayton police arrested the teens after they spotted the stolen vehicle and attempted a traffic stop. The vehicle fled and later crashed into a house.

The teens are all in custody in the juvenile detention center. They are scheduled to be arraigned Feb. 21.
