Who is the Dayton man linked to ISIS?

Laith Waleed Alebbini, 26, is in federal custody, accused of attempting to provide material support to ISIS, the international terrorist group.

FIRST REPORT: Dayton man accused of trying to join ISIS in Syria

Here is what we know now:

- Alebbini met a woman in Dayton, and he said he married her and moved here March 1, federal court records show.

- He was arrested Wednesday at the Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport by FBI agents. They said he was trying to get to Syria to join ISIS fighters there.

- Alebbini had multiple conversations with a confidential source since March 3, the complaint alleged.

- He came to the United States on a student visa from Jordan in 2014.

- Alebbini was arrested Jan. 10, 2017, for unlawful entry into the Turkish Embassy in Washington, D.C., but charges were dismissed.

- His Facebook account was disabled after posting pro-ISIS videos, he said.

- Alebbini wanted his wife to move to Jordan to raise his son, the affidavit said.

- Alebbini said he would throw away his permanent resident “green card” because he believes he was living among apostates who kill Muslims and that it will be used against him on judgment day.
