DAYTON — One of three men remains behind bars for what authorities called his role in the “random and senseless” execution-style killings of two men whose bodies were found along a rural section of Bear Creek in Jefferson Twp.
Gregory A. Leet, 27, a registered Tier II sex offender, has been identified by authorities as the alleged trigger man who picked up Nathan Gay and Harvey Sims Jr. outside a downtown Dayton bar on Feb. 26, drove them to Germantown Liberty Road and shot them in front of two other men.
The two other men — Tylor Blevins, 18, and Kenny Bailey, 22 — were released from jail Thursday, March 4, and face no charges related to the homicides at this time, Montgomery County prosecutor’s spokesman Greg Flannagan said.
Leet’s motive appears to be robbery, Montgomery County Sheriff Phil Plummer said, noting, “We are satisfied the man we believed pulled the trigger is behind bars.”
Leet faces four felony charges that include four counts of murder, four counts of felonious assault, and single counts of tampering with evidence and robbery.
Bailey, after his release from jail, said Leet shot and killed the two men. Bailey’s mother, Lisa, said her son and Blevins were held at gunpoint by Leet and ordered to help put the bodies by the creek and keep quiet or be killed.
“I was held against my will,” Kenny Bailey said. “I had a gun put to my head.” Bailey said he and Blevins did not come forward before their arrests Wednesday because they were “scared to death.”
Blevins declined comment.
Leet lives at 3377 S. Union Road, less than two miles from where Sims, 54, and Gay, 49, were found.
