ENGLEWOOD — A 7-year-old boy taken from an Englewood home by his mother was found Tuesday night in Hamilton County after a weekend search.
According to Englewood Police Sgt. Mike Lang, Alexander Sipniewski was staying with his grandparents in Englewood when his mother, Christine Sipniewski, 39, of Harrison, picked up the child Friday, Sept. 4.
Lang said the boy’s mother and father are married but separated. The grandparents did not want the child to go with his mother, but had no legal right to stop her, Lang said.
The grandparents contacted Englewood police who tried unsuccessfully to contact Mrs. Sipniewski by cell phone during the weekend. Tuesday morning, the boy’s father went before a domestic relations judge who granted him temporary custody and ordered the child’s return. That triggered a statewide alert, Lang said.
