CENTERVILLE — They may just have smashed one too many mailboxes.

Centerville police have nabbed two men, ages 18 and 20, at 11:16 p.m. Tuesday, June 16, on E. Alex Bell Road, who admitted to vandalizing mail boxes mostly in the eastern neighborhoods of Centerville.

The vandalism occured over a two-day period, from late Monday to Tuesday, according to Centerville Police Crime Prevention Officer Matt Dunn.

Centerville police reports show damage reported to addresses on John Elwood Drive, Rockingham Drive, Millbank Drive, Red Coach Drive, and Marshall Road.

When officers responded to the area of Ambridge Road about suspects damaging mailboxes, officers stopped a vehicle on East Alex Bell Road. That vehicle was occupied by an 18-year-old male and a 20-year-old male who admitted to damaging the mailboxes.

The investigation is continuing.

Dunn said police are checking with the prosecutor’s office to see if the suspects can be charged with more than misdemeanors because of the vast amount of damage done.

Dunn said he could not name the suspects or say how many mailboxes have been damaged because of the ongoing investigation and the fact that some of the damaged boxes may not have been reported yet.
