Corrections officer arrested on drug charge

A corrections officer at Lebanon Correctional Institution appeared in Lebanon Municipal Court today, Oct. 5 on charges that he tried to bring drugs into the prison.

Dennis O’Rourke, 25, was arrested at 9:50 p.m., Friday, Oct. 3 in Dayton by the State Highway Patrol after troopers allegedly caught O’Rourke meeting his contact to pick up marijuana.

O’Rourke is charged with attempting to convey drugs onto the grounds of a detention facility, a third-degree felony, and child endangerment, a first-degree misdemeanor, as he had his two-year-old daughter with him during the drug transaction.

A preliminary hearing has been scheduled for Oct. 26.
