A 46-year-old Dayton man was robbed, beaten, then fatally shot in the back as he attempted to flee four suspects on Fountain Avenue off North Main Street early Sunday morning, May 31.
The Montgomery County coroner’s office identified the man as Michael Jordan.
Dayton Police Lt. Brian Johns said Jordan and a friend approached four men in the 200 block of Delaware Avenue and asked if they knew where he could get marijuana. The men lured Jordan and the friend to the 200 block of Fountain Avenue, where they robbed, beat and fatally shot Jordan at 12:33 a.m., Johns said.
A suspect was arrested at 8:30 a.m. and questioned by homicide detectives. The man was not booked into jail and may have been released, Johns said.
