KETTERING — A Dayton Public School teacher has been charged with two felony counts of deception to obtain a dangerous drug after Kettering police said he tried to get a fraudulent prescription filled, according to officer Michael Burke.

Kettering police arrested Jesse Weaver Jr., 41, of Trotwood, on Tuesday, Feb. 2, after receiving a call from Kettering Medical Center security about the fraudulent prescriptions, Burke said. Weaver was apparently trying to get the prescriptions filled at the hospital.

Weaver, who is a physical education teacher at Fairview Elementary in Dayton, is in the Montgomery County Jail on a $25,000 bond.

“Through the course of the investigation it was learned that the prescriptions forms were illegally obtained, forged and presented,” Burke said via a press release issued Thursday.

Police found Weaver was in possession of 400 pills including Oxycontin, Percocet and Xanax, Burke said.

Weaver has been with the district since 1991, according to Melissa Fowler, a spokeswoman for Dayton Public Schools. He has been placed on unpaid leave pending a district hearing.
