DAYTON — Police are looking for Tre B. Hutcherson, 42, of Dayton, as a person of interest in the disappearance of Xenia mother Tiffany Tehan.

Hutcherson, who has been missing for several days, drives a 1999 red Volkswagen Beetle with an Ohio license plate No. EVQ9018, according to police.

“We believe that he may know the whereabouts of Tiffany or it’s possible that they are together,” Xenia police Capt. Scott Anger said.

Xenia police had no new updates on the whereabouts of Tehan and Hutcherson as of 6:20 a.m. Wednesday,. April 21. There is no indication that there is foul play, or any crimes committed by either Hutcherson or Tehan, Anger said.

The FBI has been called in to help with the investigation.

A $5,000 reward is being offered through tiffanytehan.org for information leading to the safe return of Tiffany Tehan to her family.

A woman who answered the door at Hutcherson’s residence and identified herself as his wife said he took $2,000 from their bank account.

“Obviously they are together,” she said. “(Hutcherson) wouldn’t hurt Tiffany.”

Earlier Tuesday, April 20, police released two-week-old video from a Belmont-area Circle K convenience store showing Tehan and Hutcherson, a man unknown to her husband, family and friends. The two have been together in the store several times in March and April, according to police.

Tehan hasn’t been seen or heard from since calling her husband after shopping at The Greene in Beavercreek on Saturday morning.

David Tehan had a message for his wife after seeing the photo: “I don’t care what’s going on there,” he said. “I love you and if there’s any way that you know that you can come back, please do.”

Group holds prayer vigil, continues search

A group from the Tehan family’s church distributing fliers about Tehan’s disappearance stretched its radius into Dayton’s Belmont neighborhood on Tuesday, April 20.

That included a stop at the Beer Depot and an employee who recognized the man with Tehan in a convenience store video released by Xenia police.

Kyle Dues, who works at the Beer Depot on Watervliet Avenue, said he’s 99 percent sure the male subject with a goatee and long dark hair is the man who stops into the store every couple of weeks for a 12-pack of Busch Light.

“He came in with a lady in the back seat numerous times, so we kind of laugh about it because he’d let the dog have 'shotgun’ and he’d make the lady sit in the back,” Dues said. “Since it was a Bug, you can’t really get a good look in there.”

Xenia police are asking that if anyone knows where Hutcherson or Tehan are to contact police at (937) 372-9901.

The twists and turns of the case have not deterred the 75-plus volunteers, who have handed out about 20,000 fliers in the past couple of days.
