COLUMBUS — A Franklin County grand jury on Tuesday, Oct. 27 indicted Daniel J. Neeley on felony charges of aggravated murder, attempted murder and tampering with evidence for the shooting death of his mother and shooting of his sister at his apartment house near Ohio State University.
Neeley could face up to life in prison without parole if convicted on the aggravated murder charge, according to Franklin County Prosecutor Ron O’Brien.
In 911 emergency calls, Neeley’s sister, Bethany Lafountain, and brother-in-law, Christopher Lafountain, told dispatchers that Neeley, 22, shot Julie Neeley, 51, and Bethany, 25, around 6 p.m. Oct. 17.
Ohio State said Neeley had been enrolled for three quarters last year but was not currently a student.
He allegedly attacked his father Calvin Neeley Aug. 5 on a street near his parents’ Mill Stone Drive home in Beavercreek, according to police reports. Bethany told dispatchers that her brother is a paranoid schizophrenic.
