DAYTON — A former Springfield teacher pleaded guilty Thursday, June 4, in federal court to one count of possession of child pornography for allegedly having more than 400 images of minors “engaged in sexually explicit conduct,” according to a press release from the U.S. Attorney’s Office.
William Armstrong, 56, of Springfield, a former North High School teacher, had 412 images on his personal computer and faces a potential 10-year prison sentence, according to Gregory Lockhart, attorney for the Southern District of Ohio.
Armstrong would also be under court supervision for five years following the prison sentence and required to register as a sex offender under federal statute.
Local officers and federal agents from the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement Office of Investigations in Detroit searched Arm- strong’s home in April 2008 and found the images on a computer, according to the release.
Armstrong will be sentenced Sept. 3 by United States District Judge Walter H. Rice.
