DAYTON — A former worker for Public Health — Dayton & Montgomery County faces two felony counts for allegedly using a work vehicle to run personal errands.

Ronald D. Moreland Sr. was indicted by a Montgomery County grand jury on two counts of theft in office for allegedly logging more than 1,300 miles on his work vehicle for personal use, said Greg Flannagan, spokesman for the Montgomery County prosecutors office.

Moreland will be arraigned Oct. 1.

The alleged misuse of the work vehicle was investigated by the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office, Flannagan said.

Theft in office is a fifth degree felony regardless of the amount of money the accused is suspected of taking, he said.

Each of the felony charges carry a maximum sentence of 12 months in jail and a $2,500 fine.

Bill Wharton, spokesman for Public Health - Dayton & Montgomery County, declined to comment on the case since it was still pending.
