HUBER HEIGHTS — A 44-year-old Huber Heights man reportedly shot his 19-year-old son in the stomach just after 6 p.m. Sunday, July 11, police said.

Sgt. Chris Kash said the department received a report of a shooting at 5605 Bergan Dr. at 6:02 pm.

Donnie Moore Sr., 44, allegedly shot his son, Donnie “DJ” Moore Jr., in the abdomen with a .22-caliber rifle.

Kash said it was a domestic dispute between a father and son.

Neighbor Greg Cooper said he saw the son run out of the house and collapse in the yard.

“The kid came out here screaming, saying, ‘My Dad shot me,’ ” Cooper said.

Cooper had his wife call 911, then put pressure on the wound until paramedics arrived.

“He was saying, ‘I don’t want to die, I don’t want to die,’ ” Cooper said. “I said, ‘You’ll be all right DJ. Don’t worry about it. You’ll live.’ ”

DJ Moore was taken to Miami Valley Hospital, Kash said. Phyllis Brown, a spokeswoman for the hospital said Sunday night she could not release any information about Moore.

Officers then went into the house and arrested the elder Moore, who Kash said was cooperative. Donnie Moore was taken to the county jail, awaiting an initial court appearance on possible aggravated assault charges.
