DAYTON — A 65-year-old man has been cited for a hit-and-run collision that occurred late Thursday night, Sept. 9 near Westfield and Watervliet avenues.
Police had been searching for the person who drove a car that ran a stop sign on Westfield Avenue and struck a person on a motorized scooter, which was traveling southbound on Watervliet Avenue. The accident happened at 11:15 p.m.
“The suspect came forward of his own accord,” Dayton Lt. Larry Faulkner said Friday, Sept. 10. The man was cited for hit and run.
A witness driving northbound stopped to help, and saw the driver of the car get out, look at the accident, and then get back in the car and drive away.
Lt. Robert Mannix said that witness provided a license plate number and Dayton police were able to track the vehicle to Kettering.
Although initially unresponsive, the 46-year-old male driver of the scooter was taken to Miami Vally Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
