XENIA — A 22-year-old Xenia man accused of repeatedly raping a 12-year-old girl has waived his initial court appearance.
David Hawkins was scheduled to appear in Xenia Municipal Court today, but court filings show his attorney waived his preliminary hearing. There has been no date set for Hawkins’ next appearance.
Hawkins was charged with six counts of rape after Xenia police said he allegedly had sex with a 12-year-old girl multiple times at a Xenia motel after her mother reported her missing.
David Robert Allen Hawkins was formally charged last week and was booked into Greene County Jail Dec. 31 on a $50,000 cash bond.
State law said a person is guilty of rape if they have sex with a person younger than 13 years of age, whether or not the offender knows the age of the other person.
