Jurors took a few hours to deliberate before they convicted a 22-year-old man in the beating death of Fairborn High School graduate Christopher Kernich near the Kent State University campus.
Adrian Barker, a University of Akron student, was found guilty Friday, April 23, of two counts of murder and one count each of felonious assault and tampering with evidence.
Kernich, 23, was a Kent State student who died at Akron City Hospital on Nov. 21, six days after the attack. The beating left Kernich in a coma with massive head injuries, and he never regained consciousness.
Two other Akron students have been charged in connection with Kernich's death.
