A Lebanon man jumped off the Jeremiah-Morrow Bridge today, Oct. 12, falling to his death, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
Witnesses saw Donald G. Wesseler, 46, of Desales Avenue in Lebanon, walking southbound on Interstate 71, according to OSHP officials. Wesseler then reportedly jumped off the bridge, falling approximately 163 feet to the ground below.
Wesseler was pronounced dead at the scene by the Warren County coroner.
According to the highway patrol, witnesses said Wesseler had parked his car at the south end of the bridge before walking on it. Investigators said they found no letter from Wesseler.
The Jeremiah Morrow Bridge, the state’s tallest at 239 feet, is a pair of truss bridges that span the Little Miami River gorge.
