HARRISON TWP., Montgomery County — Shots reportedly fired in a lot outside the Valero gas station, 2800 Philadelphia Drive, sent a 25-year-old Dayton man to Miami Valley Hospital.

Deputies from the Harrison Twp. substation of the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office received a call at 2:49 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 12, of a man possibly being shot in the area of Salem and West Siebenthaler avenues, according to Montgomery County Sheriff’s Sgt. Terry Saylor.

Deputies later learned the man shot was being driven to Good Samaritan Hospital by a friend who may have been at the scene when the shooting occurred. At the hospital, the deputies located a man who had been shot in the head. They also learned that the shooting may have occurred in the lot of the Valero station, according to Saylor’s report.

Witnesses told deputies that the victim was with a group of males when the gunfire occurred, Landis said. The victim was hit and fell to the ground. However, he was able to pick himself up. That’s when someone put him in a vehicle and drove him to Good Samaritan Hospital, Major Scott Landis said.

The victim, whose injuries were not considered life-threatening, was eventually transferred to Miami Valley Hospital. He was listed in good condition as of 3:45 p.m. Thursday, according to Landis.

“The victim is being somewhat uncooperative,” Capt. Jeff Papanek said. “He was very vague on how (the shooting) happened.”

Deputies don’t believe the victim had a gun with him, Papanek said.

No suspects had been arrested as of 3:45 p.m. Thursday, Landis said. However, deputies did arrest a woman who had been circling the shooting scene.

The woman caught the attention of a deputy, who followed her in his cruiser to Fair Lane, Landis said. At some point during the conversation with the deputy, the woman became disorderly and had to be “dry-stunned,” Landis said. The woman was taken to the Montgomery County Jail.

The shooting remains under investigation.

Anyone with information about the shooting, should contact the sheriff’s Harrison Twp. division at (937) 890-9581.
