SPRINGFIELD — A man was in fair condition Sunday, Oct. 25, at a Dayton hospital after he was stabbed in the chest at a Clark County bar.

Stephen J. Watkins, whose age and address weren’t available, was stabbed about 1:20 a.m. Sunday at the Key West Lounge (formally the City Slickers Bar), 2740 Columbus Ave.

When Clark County sheriff’s deputies arrived, they found two patrons holding a towel to his chest, where it appeared that he sustained a deep wound from an unknown weapon.

Watkins first was taken to Springfield Regional Medical Center’s High Street campus, then was flown to Miami Valley Hospital at 3:02 a.m.

According to a sheriff’s report, a patron claimed that there had been an exchange of words between Watkins and the unknown suspect just before the stabbing. The incident is still under investigation.

Anyone with information about the stabbing is urged to contact the Clark County Sheriff’s Detective Bureau at 328-2560.
