OXFORD — A Miami University junior is one of three arrested in connection with a robbery and attack last month in a campus dormitory.
David Lee Shavers, 23, listed as a junior business major, was arrested Thursday and was charged for aggravated burglary, robbery and three counts of assault, according to Miami University police Lt. Ben Spilman.
Two more 20-year-old men, Ryan Shavers and Rayjay Crumpton, also were arrested for aggravated burglary and robbery in connection with the April 30 incident at Stanton Hall. All three suspects are in the Butler County Jail.
The Miami student who reported the crime told police three men forced their way into his Stanton Hall room at 2:05 a.m. and assaulted several people inside and stole cash, according to a crime alert issued at the time by Miami, which also reported that two other people were assaulted outside the building.
The suspects fled in a red 1990s model Chevrolet Camaro with a loud exhaust and a large Miami “M” logo in the back windshield, the alert said.
“Our detectives acted quickly and accurately to solve this crime,” said Chief John McCandless in a statement. “It’s their dedication to providing a safe environment that consistently brings out an outstanding performance.”
All victims suffered only minor injuries, according to Miami.
