ENGLEWOOD — A Northmont High School teacher and coach was placed on leave Wednesday, June 24. He is under investigation after being found partially unclothed with a 17-year-old girl .
Loren P. Meadows, 35, of Union, was arrested in Clinton County on Tuesday on charges of resisting arrest and obstructing official business. Clinton County sheriff deputies say he refused to comply with them after he was found in a parked car with the girl who was a Northmont senior this past school year.
“From our preliminary investigation, it doesn’t appear that anything occurred in Englewood, but we are trying to develop additional information from other sources,” Englewood Police Chief Mark Brownfield said Wednesday.
Police are trying to determine if the pair had any sexual activity in their jurisdictions and when. Under the Ohio’s sexual battery statute, a teacher or coach can be charged if the victim is a student or athlete who goes to the same school. Sexual battery is a third-degree felony.
