OAKWOOD — The Oakwood Public Safety Department needs the public’s help to identify a woman who has been cashing fake payroll checks at local Liberty Savings Banks.
On Feb. 12, a woman tried to cash a $498.75 check at the Liberty Savings Bank, 2331 Far Hills Ave., said Capt. Randy Baldridge.
He said the check was written on an account for J. Hildebrand Builders. When the bank called the builder and verified it was not real, the woman left the bank in a black Cadillac SUV.
Baldridge said police determined the woman used a fraudulent Ohio ID card in name of Jasmine S. Eddings that was issued from a state Bureau of Motor Vehicles office in Cleveland.
Earlier that day, bank officials told police the same woman went into another Liberty Savings Bank and successfully cashed a $497 check.
The woman is described as a “light-skinned black female with blondish hair in the front,” at least 20-years-old, 5 feet 6 inches tall and about 160 pounds. She wore blue jeans with a blue hooded zip-up sweatshirt.
