TROY — Police say a teacher at the Upper Valley Joint Vocational School in Piqua has been arrested on suspicion of sexual contact with a student there.

Capt. Chris Anderson of the Troy Police Department said Thursday, Dec. 31, that Eric Williams, 32, was arrested by a Troy police officer after he was found after 7 p.m. Wednesday at Duke Park in the company of the juvenile female.

The officer was checking the park after it closes, which is after dark, Anderson said.

The student and teacher had driven to the park in separate vehicles but at the time of the arrest, both were in one of the vehicles, Anderson said.

Thursday night Williams remained in the Miami County Jail on suspicion of one count of sexual battery, a third-degree felony. The juvenile was released to her parent’s custody.

Williams could be arraigned Monday morning, Anderson said.
