TROTWOOD: That trailer his truck was pulling on Old Dayton Road had no working taillights when it was stopped by police at about 5:30 a.m.

The driver told the officer his friend gave him the trailer, although he could not provide the friend’s name and phone number.

The officer noticed a bolt-cutter and gloves on the passenger floorboard that appeared odd. He noticed also that the trailer had patches of grass on its bottom, indicating it had been dragged through a yard.

The officer eventually discovered the trailer had been stolen. He said the driver’s footprints were found near where it was taken.

The driver was taken to the Montgomery County Jail on charges of receiving stolen property and possession of criminal tools.
