HUBER HEIGHTS — An apparently suicidal 33-year-old Huber Heights man was taken to a local hospital Tuesday, July 8, following a three-hour standoff with police.

The man called police at 10:38 p.m. Monday, July 6, and said he didn’t want to live anymore, police said. He wanted officers to tell his family goodbye.

The suspect was belligerent and threatened himself with a knife when police arrived at his home in the 4500 block of Bufort Boulevard.

The Regional Emergency Response Team was called to assist with the case and nearby residents were evacuated.

After negotiation with officers, the man emerged from his home and was taken to the hospital for mental evaluation. He faces an inducing panic charge.
