DAYTON — Three men led Dayton and Trotwood police on a wild, 30-minute chase through west Dayton on Tuesday, June 30, before the men stopped their damaged car and bailed out.

Police arrested the men near Melbourne and North Gettysburg avenues about 2:40 p.m. The suspects’ car lost two tires and struck a police cruiser during the chase.

At least one firearm was recovered on Decker Avenue near Melbourne Avenue.

The men were being pursued in connection with an armed robbery in Trotwood earlier Tuesday.

Trotwood Police Chief Quincy Pope said the incident began when two men robbed a woman at gunpoint as she left a business in Trotwood Tuesday afternoon.

Trotwood Detective Steve Derringer said two of the suspects are brothers who are well-known to Trotwood police for crimes including shootings, robberies and thefts.

“They’re into prettty much everything.” Derringer said. The brothers were arrested near the vehicle. The third suspect was caught by a police dog and taken to Grandview Hospital for injuries sustained while resisting arrest, Derringer said.

The two brothers were taken to the Trotwood police department for questioning.
