Two men have been charged and sent to Shelby County Jail in connection with a series of burglaries dating back to the spring of 2009.

Donald Dwayne Sharp, 19, of 425 Fairview Drive, and Devin L Wilkins, 19, address at large, were charged with five counts of burglary each, according to a statement released today, Oct. 25, by Sidney police.

Between May and October of 2009, Sidney police responded to 18 home burglary complaints, many occurring while residents were at home and asleep, the statement said. Hardest hit were areas in the northeast part of the city and the south side near Sidney High School.

Officers and detectives from the Sidney Police Department and Shelby County Sheriff’s office executed two search warrants Friday, Oct. 23, at Sharp’s address and at 8423 Cecil Road in Shelby County, recovering property believed to stolen from some of the past burglaries.
