TROY – A Covington woman convicted of showing pornographic web sites to girls ages 9 and 10 will spend five weekends during the Christmas-New Year’s holiday in the Miami County Jail.
Common Pleas Court Judge Robert Lindeman ordered Heather Conard, 18, to report to the county jail by 6 p.m. each Friday beginning Dec. 4 and serve that and the next four weekends confined.
“It is a serious situation. You can think about it ... during the Christmas holiday in the Miami County Jail,” Lindeman said.
Conard pleaded guilty in August to felony attempted disseminating matter harmful to juveniles.
One girl’s father said he found the sites on his laptop computer in May when he came into his Covington home and the girls, who had been using the laptop, quickly closed the site they had been viewing.
Investigators said Conard was showing the girls how to search for pornographic sites, then viewing some of the sites with them in May in Covington.
Speaking to the judge before Conard was sentenced, one father said his daughter has nightmares and has exhibited a change in attitude. “It traumatized both of us,” he said.
Defense lawyer Steve Layman said Conard is sorry for what occurred.
Conard, who is a high school student, was sentenced to two years of community control. During that time, she was ordered to have no contact with the girls and their families. She will be prohibited from using a computer unless access is related to school or a job.
