BEAVERCREEK — Police have identified the man who led them on a chase Sunday, Jan. 3, after allegedly stealing from vehicles in the parking lot of the Church of the Nazarene on North Fairfield Road.
Craig N. Hill, 51, address unknown, is in the Greene County Jail and facing charges of failure to comply and receiving stolen property, said Sgt. James Wuebben, Beavercreek police.
Officers said Hill led Riverside and Beavercreek police on a chase Sunday afternoon that ended at Beaver Vu Drive when he crashed the car he was driving and fled on foot.
Hill was driving a vehicle that was reported stolen in Kettering Dec. 23, police said. Beavercreek police joined Riverside officers in the pursuit of Hill, who crashed into a different vehicle at the intersection of North Fairfield Road and Claydor Drive.
The driver of the other vehicle sustained minor injuries in that crash.
The suspect continued on eventually driving through the grounds of Shoup Park and ultimately crashing after going over an embankment along Beaver Vu Drive.
Police said a Riverside police officer sustained minor cuts to his face in the chase.
Police caught up with the suspect hiding under a wood pile near the dead end of Old Mill Lane, just north of U.S. 35.
More charge against Hill are possible, police said.
