BEAVERCREEK — One police car in Kettering and another in Dayton were struck during an early-morning police chase that started in Beavercreek, police said Sunday, June 21.
Adam David Perry, 27, of 655 St. Paul Ave., in Dayton is being held in the Greene County Jail in lieu of $25,000 bond.
He was arrested on felony counts of failure to comply and obstructing official business, as well as driving under the influence, reckless operation and Financial Responsibility Act suspension.
Beavercreek Police Sgt. Jim Wuebben said the early morning chase began around 2 a.m. when an officer attempted to stop a motorist for a speeding violation.
“The driver of the vehicle stopped. When the officer approached, the driver took off on him,” Wuebben said.
The pursuit continued into Kettering, where that city’s officers began assisting Beavercreek police.
Kettering Police Sgt. David Senkowski said, “We were not actually in the chase. The suspect’s vehicle ended up backing into one of the police cars and damaging the front push bars.”
He described the damage as minor and said no one was injured in that incident.
Wuebben said the suspect’s car entered Dayton, where it struck a Dayton police vehicle. More information was not immediately available from Dayton police Sunday but a Dayton fire lieutenant said his incident log indicated no officer was injured overnight.
Perry was arrested in Dayton and turned over to Beavercreek police. Wuebben said the other jurisdictions would have to follow up on any violations stemming from the crashes with the police vehicles.
