DAYTON — That University of Dayton student-athlete knocking on your door probably isn’t Flyers junior forward Chris Wright.
The UD athletics department on Thursday, Oct. 8, issued a warning to Dayton-area residents about a scam being conducted by people misrepresenting Flyer athletics.
People posing as UD student-athletes are conducting door-to-door book sales, claiming to raise money for university sports programs, said Debbie Seaman, executive assistant to the vice president and director of UD athletics.
UD student-athletes do not solicit money door-to-door, Seaman said.
There were two reported instances this week in Centerville and Huber Heights, according to Seaman.
People who encounter anyone soliciting on behalf of UD athletics are urged to contact local police officials, she said.
