UPDATE: Homicide victim argued with group before shots fired

DAYTON — The Montgomery County Coroner’s Office has identified the man shot to death early Friday, Oct. 30, on Sheridan Avenue as Dante D. Smith, 32, of 876 Mt. Crest Court, Dayton.

Coroner’s investigator Jim Fannin said while that’s the last known address they have for Smith, his mother said she didn’t think he lived there any more.

Fannin said his office is still examining the body to determine how many times Smith was shot.

“I know there’s more than two,” Fannin said.

Dayton Police found Smith in the street and dead of gunshot wounds shortly after midnight, according to Dayton Police Sgt. Michael Pauley.
