BEAVERCREEK — A Beavercreek woman has been arrested on two counts of aggravated arson resulting from the Aug. 5 fire at her residence at 3476 Plantation Place.

Nancy F. Skinner, 50, was arrested on one count of a first-degree felony and one count of a second-degree felony, accused of torching the estimated $400,000 home. The investigation was conducted jointly by the Beavercreek Fire Department, Beavercreek Police and the State Fire Marshall’s office.

The indictment was filed Monday, Aug. 30, in the Greene County Court of Common Pleas. Skinner will be arraigned Sept. 17.

Landscapers in the neighborhood saw smoke coming from the house, removed two dogs from inside, and helped Skinner, who was struggling with the smoke, according to Beavercreek Fire Chief David VandenBos. Skinner was treated at Miami Valley Hospital for minor smoke inhalation.

Firefighters responded to calls at 1:04 p.m. and when they arrived, the flames were flying through the roof, VandenBos said. Firefighters from Beavercreek, Kettering, Bellbrook and Sugarcreek Twp. were on the scene to help battle the fire and got it under control an hour later.

On Tuesday, Aug. 31, Beavercreek police Sgt. Jim Wuebben had no additional comments about the case.
