LIBERTY TWP., Clinton County — Ohio State Highway Patrol investigators are searching for a driver who left the scene of a fatal accident on Interstate 71 late Thursday night, July 16, a news release from the patrol said.
Trina Lewis, 49, of Westerville was killed in the accident that happened about 10:30 p.m. Thursday on I-71 near U.S. 68 in Liberty Twp. between Xenia and Wilmington.
The release said Lewis was driving north on I-71 when her 2007 Ford Focus went off the left side of the highway. The car overturned in the median, and the driver, who was not wearing a seat belt, was ejected.
The woman landed in the southbound lanes of I-71 and was struck by an unknown vehicle, the release said. The driver of the unknown second car failed to stop and continued south on I-71.
Anyone with information on the accident is asked to contact the Wilmington post of the highway patrol.
