FAIRBORN — A Wright State University student being fired from the campus radio station on Tuesday, June 16, was arrested by Wright State police.
Amir M. Shabazz was arrested at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday on a warrant for complicity to passing bad checks and other felony charges, according to Stephanie Ely, Wright State spokeswoman.
Wright State Police were called to WWSU-FM in the Student Union to stand by as peace officers while Shabazz was being fired from his position as a DJ at the radio station for playing unedited music, Ely said.
“The officers were then notified that there was a warrant out for Mr. Shabazz’s arrest from the Greene County Common Pleas Court from Fairborn Police Department,” Ely said.
Shabazz has been charged with one count of engaging in a pattern of corrupt activity, one count of conspiracy to commit and engage in a corrupt activity and nine counts of complicity to passing bad checks, said Sgt. Matt Ricketts of the Fairborn Police Department.
Shabazz’s address was listed on the warrant as “at large,” Ricketts said. He is being held in Fairborn City Jail on a $10,000 bond.
