By day, he helps power military aircraft. And now, he’s back on the Franklin School Board.

A former member of the Franklin Board of Education was selected to fill a vacant board seat.

This week, the board appointed Andrew Fleming to fill the seat vacated by Robyn Donisi, who resigned last month. Fleming will complete the final two years of Donisi’s term, which expires Dec. 31, 2019.

Donisi, an asssistant superintendent in the Clinton-Massie School District, resigned her Franklin school board seat due to increased duties in her job.

This is the second time Fleming has been appointed to the school board. He previously was appointed to the school board in the summer of 2014 through Dec. 31, 2014.

In the 2015 election Donisi and board member Lori Raleigh won the two open seats with Fleming coming in third place.

Professionally, Fleming leads a team of engineers dedicated to the design and development of next generation military aircraft power and thermal management systems at General Electric Aviation in Cincinnati.

The board selected Fleming from a field of six applicants seeking to fill the vacancy. Those who applied included:

• Jeff Johnson of Holly Drive. Johnson has held business operations and human resources positions in services in four school districts including Franklin.

• Paul Hillard of Stadia Drive. Hillard is a retiree of AK Steel and a former school board member, Franklin mayor and councilman and Franklin Twp. administrator. He is also Raleigh’s uncle.

• Ryan Ramer of Patricia Street. Ramer has a background in information technology as a network administrator and network manager for a national manufacturer.

• Dennis Dwyer of Skokiaan Drive. Dwyer ran unsuccessfully for one of three open school board seats last fall in a close election.

• Teresa Crocker of Hemlock Street. Crocker works as a senior mortgage loan processor.
