The Preble County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the probable drowning of a 2-year old boy from Arcanum on Saturday, June 13.
According to a Sheriff’s Department news release, the boy was reported missing by family members at 5:16 p.m. Sheriff’s Deputies were assisted in the search by Lewisburg and Verona Fire Department and several area police agencies; the boy’s body was found floating face down in Lewisburg’s Swamp Creek at 5:56 p.m. He was taken to Children’s Hospital in Dayton, where he was pronounced dead.
The Sheriff’s Department said the boy was playing with his 6- and 10-year-old siblings when he wandered off, and family members searched for the boy for as long as two hours before calling the authorities.
The victim’s name will be released Monday morning.
