Three drivers were arrested for operating a vehicle while intoxicated Friday night into Saturday in Kettering during a holiday saturation patrol.
There also was one arrest for driving under suspension, numerous traffic safety citations and several warnings issued, according to Kettering police.
During the holiday season, there were 22 OVI arrests in Kettering. The month of December saw 40 OVI arrests, and there were more than 500 OVI arrests in the city in 2011. This is a jump compared to 2010, which had 21 OVI arrests in December and 455 OVI arrests overall.
Public Information Officer Ron Roberts attributed the increase this year to strategic planning.
The Kettering Police Department received funds from the Governor’s Highway Safety Office and the local court to pay for the extra OVI Task Force work during the holidays.
