TURTLE CREEK TWP., Shelby County — A 34-year-old Piqua man was driving erratically Monday evening, Sept. 21, before an accident that killed him, his passenger and the driver of another car, according to a news release from the Piqua post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
The accident involved three vehicles and led to four injuries in addition to the three deaths, the release said.
Anthony Davis, 34, of Piqua was driving a 1991 Buick Century east on Ohio 47 near Hardin-Wapakoneta Road at about 8 p.m. Monday. The release said he was driving erratically without headlights and passing vehicles on the right.
East of Hardin-Wapakoneta Road, Davis’ car went left of center and struck a 1993 Oldsmobile Cutlass head on. A 1997 Plymouth Voyager van then struck the Oldsmobile Cutlass and came to rest in a ditch, the release said.
Chelsie Ball, 21, of Sidney was a passenger in the front seat of Davis’ car, and both were pronounced dead at the scene. Also killed was Robin A. Droesch, 45, the driver of the Oldsmobile Cutlass.
The occupants of the Plymouth van were transported to area hospitals for treatment.
The bodies of the three people killed were taken to the Montgomery County Coroner’s office for autopsies. The state patrol is investigating the accident and trying to determine why Davis went left of center, the release said.
