Fitness center chain Bally Total Fitness will exit the Dayton market next week, closing clubs in Centerville and Englewood, a Bally spokesman said today, May 22.
Plans call for the club at 1530 Miamisburg-Centerville Road, Centerville, to close Tuesday, May 26, while the club at 8423 N. Main St., Englewood, will close Friday, May 29, said Larry Larsen, a Bally spokesman. He said the decision to close the facilities came after a review of the company’s real estate holdings.
Bally closed its Kettering club in December 2006 and its closest clubs are located in Cincinnati.
Larsen said the company will give customers a free national membership, allowing them to work out at other Bally locations across the country, if they want it. Bally customers with questions about their memberships can call (800) 515-2582.
Larsen said he was unsure how many belong to the Centerville and Englewood clubs.
According to a news release, Urban Active, a health club located at The Greene in Beavercreek, said it would allow Bally members to join Urban Active without paying an enrollment fee or paying for their May membership.
Jeremy Alexander, district manager for Urban Active, said the affected Bally members would pay $29.99 per month for an Urban Active membership. For information: (937) 427-0700.
