Bethel senior named ’09 Troy Strawberry Festival queen

TROY — Shannon Phillips, a senior at Bethel High School, is the 2009 Troy Strawberry Festival queen.

Phillips was selected from 14 contestants at the 33rd queens pageant April 24 at the Troy High School Auditorium. She is the daughter of Jack and Chris Phillips of Tipp City.

Phillips received an $800 scholarship from United Retail and Avenue. She hopes to continue her education at Ohio University.

Members of the queen’s court were first runner-up Brittany Wagner, a sophomore at Troy High School. She is the daughter of Cevin and Brenda Wagner of Troy. She received a $500 scholarship from the Dayton Better Business Bureau.

Second runner-up was Erica Sharits, daughter of Scott and Jenny Sharits of Troy. She is a senior at Troy High School and received a $400 scholarship from Dayton Power and Light.

Kelsey Kingrey, daughter of Brad and Tanya Kingrey from Fletcher, was named third runner-up. She is a junior at Miami East High School and received a $300 scholarship from Towne Park Apartments.

Fourth runner-up and Miss Congeniality was Lyndsay Mikolajewski, daughter of Ed and Cindy Mikolajewski from Piqua. A senior at Piqua High School, she received a $200 scholarship from Holiday Inn Express and an additional $200 scholarship was provided by Dee Mahan and Terry Naas for being named Miss Congeniality.
