TROTWOOD — One man awoke to find the house he was sleeping in on fire Monday morning.
The man was able to escape the fire at 5741 Salem Bend Drive, which was initially reported at about 10:30 a.m.
Firefighters went into defensive mode the house fire became too dangerous to fight from inside the story-and-a-half structure.
It took crews about 25 minutes to put out the fire, which may have started in the laundry area of the home, Trotwood Batallion Chief Steve Milliken said.
Trotwood and Harrison Twp. crews were on the scene.
The house is on a wooded lot and near Ehrstine Cemetery. The homeowner arrived on the scene and had to be held back by a police officer.
Salem Bend was closed in the area as firefighters fought the blaze.
