CLAYTON — Paramedics were en route to Children’s Medical Center of Dayton with a boy around 8 years of age who nearly drowned at a holiday party, police said at 5:35 p.m. today, July 5.

Clayton Police Sgt. Jeff Garrison said the boy was swimming in a private pool shortly before 5 p.m. at an Independence Day party on Rundell Drive when some adults “apparently took their eyes off of him for a moment” and then found him at the bottom of the pool.

Garrison said the boy was reported to be unconscious but breathing on his own “with a good, strong heartbeat.” He said he was in stable condition.
