RIVERSIDE — A man swerved off Ohio Route 4 at around 3:30 p.m. and drove his SUV into Eastwood Lake on Sunday, Nov. 1.

The driver, who was the only occupant in the Cadillac Escalade, escaped the vehicle and swam to shore. His name has not been released by Riverside Police, who responded to the scene along with Dayton and Five Rivers MetroParks police.

MetroParks Police Sgt. D.L. Vorhees said the man told officials he saw an animal and swerved, losing control of his vehicle.

A Box 21 Rescue Squad dive team and a tow truck retrieved the vehicle.

On Sept. 26 the squad had to locate another vehicle in the water. Driver Darrell Jackson, 24, of Dayton, lost control of his car on the embankment and it rolled into the lake. He escaped without injury.
